Well Hello there! It is not long until Christmas now and I hope you all have succeeded finding the Christmas spirit, feeling and mood. Out here I promise you it is hard. Especially maybe if you are from a cold winter-country and used to a cold, dark and hopefully white December as we are.
We are still in Mexico. The west coast of Mexico is apparently really really long… We hoped and aimed for being in Costa Rica for Christmas but some things you can’t decide over. Wind for example. Wind is really hard to control. And we need a lot of wind for Windsy because she is a big girl.
Mexico is now even more colourful with all the Christmas decorations- still it doesn’t help a lot to ad to my Christmas feeling… :/ Maybe because it is incredibly hot, especially sailing down wind (if you run in the speed and direction of the wind- you dont feel it!), and as a Scandinavian Christmas month should be icy cold and dark. In total in this trip we have a quarter of a night with rain. That is very very little. The rest is sun, sun, sun. If you are sitting in a dark, grey Norway at the moment you probably think that sounds really amazing. I guess I just does not work as good here as in a cold climate.
The only time I can imagine Christmas is coming soon is when we sail in the dark. When it is just a star bright heaven and darkness around. Cosy
otherwise, just life on a sailboat; We see dolphins a lot now. Like a few times every day almost. They like to come close to the boat and play. Lovely creatures. I love to see anim
als play just for the fun of it. Makes me think good things about my own life, God, creation, etc. Deep.
So unfortunately (misunderstand me right) we don’t get so hyped anymore over dolphins. The dogs do! We can just whisper the magic word “Sea dogs” and they go crazy and run to the sides of the boat s
taring in the water and running around. Keeps them busy and distracted for a long while 🙂
What we still do get super excited about is when we spot whales! Humpback whales. Often a couple of them together, like a mum and a kid. That is a majestic view. Today we saw them pretty close. You just spot them for a short while then you see the best part of it- but also the last part of it- when they dive down and the tail comes above the surface and gives a splash.
